Whether you teach programming or you are a competitive programmer yourself, one of the main questions is how to check the correctness of solutions. There are many different types of automatic judge systems both online and offline; you have to choose the appropriate one for the situation. In this paper, we discuss the types of judges and the possible feedbacks given by them. We also give an overview of the methods used by some well-known online sites from a pedagogical point of view. The technical issues of different grading systems are omitted.
